Description
This event, sponsored by the Jackson County Historical Society on Memorial Day weekend 2011, honored the last the last Confederate and Union Veterans from Jackson County Ohio. The photographs show the placement of wreaths at the graves of Barak Chase, the last Union veteran (who is buried at Evergreen Cemetery), and Abrose Workman, the last Confederate veteran (buried at Ridgewood Cemetery). The event featured Bob Ervin, who portrayed Abraham Lincoln. At each grave, Lewis placed a wreath and gave a short speech (most of which was taken from the Gettysburg address), which honored the individual soldier and all those who served.
