Contributor Note: "The attached is a letter from my great, great uncle, John Silas Caton, who enlisted in Company B 78th Ohio November 27, 1861. He was discharged because of wounds on October 23,1863.
He married Rachel Day, in 1858, in Muskingum County, Ohio and later moved to Adams County, Nebraska.
He applied for a pension in 1891. I do not know when he died.
The Elizabeth mentioned is my maternal great grandmother. Silas was the son of George Wesley Caton and Mildred Buckley and was born in Fairfax County, Virginia."
