Does anyone know of an annual encampment or reenactment that is scheduled in June? I have an organization interested in planning an event in June 2011 and they would like to make sure it does not interfere with a large annual event in Ohio.

Here are the ones I am aware of:
Ft. Meigs has a Living History timeline Father's Day weekend. It attracts a few Civil War reenactors each year.
Woodsfield has a small event June 12-13 this year, and I believe annually.
East Harbor has a fair sized event June 12-13 this year, and I believe annually.
I would suggest the old Granville/Newark weekend. Before they stopped hosting their event it was always the last weekend in June. I believe that weekend is open for most groups still.
Hope that helps,
Bob

Thanks Bob! I'll let them know and I'll try to track down these events and add them to the online calendar or just keep them in mind in case people ask.
Are there any big annual events out-of-state that pull a lot of reenactors from Ohio, that I should be aware of? I'm hoping to create a toolkit for organizations planning events and this would be really helpful information.

You're welcome. Further info:
Billie Creek, Indiana has an event in early June….2nd weekend I think. I don't think it pulls a lot of Ohio troops. Old Bedford Village, PA has an event I think 3rd weekend of June. This pulls some Ohio folks as it's a max effort event for 2nd Battalion of Birney's Division which has some Ohioans. For a list of upcoming 'Mega Events' you can check out this website which has lots of the 150th Anniversary events: http://www.150thcivilwarevents.com/
Besides this list, I think there is an Anniversary Ball's Bluff event. The anniverary date is in October but I can't confirm when the reenactment date is. I've sent emails to find out.
In summary though, I think if this new event stuck to the last weekend in June it would safely miss all major competition.
Regards,
Bob

I am the commander of the host company for the east harbor event last year in 2009. I would not recomend that event to any1. My company will never attend again. The event actually still to this very day owe me 500.00 for fliers that i paid to get printed as authorized by there committee.
