Civil War Saturdays at the Taft Museum of Art

An Afternoon with Catherine Coffin and Harriet Beecher Stowe: Catherine Coffin, with her husband Levi, was an important conductor on the Underground Railroad. Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin, was the woman President Lincoln referred to as “the little woman who wrote the book that made this great war.” Reenactors Joyce B. Baer and Betsy Miskell bring them to life in this portrayal of women who fought slavery in their own important ways.

Meet Mr. Lincoln: A life member of the Association of Lincoln Presenters, Stanley A. Wernz  shares the thoughts and comments of our 16th president in Lincoln’s own words, exposing his humor, hardships, family life, and political career. Perhaps he will tell his version of the story of the time he visited Nicholas Longworth at 316 Pike Street.
