On behalf of the Jackson Historical Society and the Jackson Civil War 150 Committee, all are invited to attend the Jackson Morgan’s Raid & Encampment on August 17th and 18th. The weekend begins with a Morgan’s Raid through Main Street Jackson beginning about 9:30am. Some of the havoc that Morgan and his men brought 150 years ago in July will be reenacted in scenes along the street in front of Main Street, Jackson, Ohio. About noon on Saturday, the soldiers and other reenactors move to McCarty Lane in Jackson to the Encampment area where presenters, sutlers, and soldiers will be set up in a camp much like the soldiers of 150 years ago. There will be a battle each day, Ladies’ Tea, Camp Ball, worship on Sunday morning, and a night cannonade Saturday night with over 10 cannons! We have Camp Chase Fife & Drum Corps, musician and historian Steve Ball, Payton Seats as Johnny Clem, Michael Crutcher as Franklin Douglass, Rick Williams as General George Custer, Merle Collins as General John Hunt Morgan, John Duke as Basil Duke, Robert Ervin as President Lincoln, Lee Downey as a Civil War surgeon, Lisa Actor telling her story Rebel Raiders, sutlers and so much more. There is no admission and parking is free!
