From 1861 to 1865, more than 200,000 soldiers ages 17 or younger served in the Union and Confederate armies. Most served as drummer boys, musicians and orderlies. Countless managed to serve in the ranks carrying muskets. Author of Too Young to Die: Boy Soldiers of the Union Army, Dennis Keesee will share the information and stories he has collected about our country’s boy soldiers.
