Ohio Army Still Accepting Volunteers! Report to Camp Latty!

Plunge into our local history this October and be part of the excitement with our Camp Latty Enlistment Event. We will be celebrating the efforts that Camp Latty and our local Ohioans put into the Civil War. Held at Ritter Park, across the street from the actual grounds of Camp Latty, we will take you through the steps that men went through when enlisting. What was it like to sign up? What were the rules? How did it affect people on the home front? We’ll answer these questions and others as you walk through our encampment and “enlist” with the Union Army. The fun will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8th at Ritter Park. Demonstrations of military arts, women’s roles and home arts will take place throughout the day. Questions may be directed to the Henry County Historical Society at 419-592-8006.

The dedication of the “Civil War Camp Latty 1861” Historical Marker will take place on October 8, 2011, at 1:00 PM at Ritter Park in Napoleon.
