Join the Wolcott House Museum Complex to commemorate the sesquicentennial of the American Civil War with a presentation entitled “Marking the War’s Sesquicentennial: Commemoration activities and educational resources to help you learn about and teach Civil War history”. Hosted by the Maumee Valley Historical Society, this presentation includes a tour of the Wolcott Museum Complex and a visit to the new Civil War exhibit.

This event is part of the “Ohio and The Civil War: A Workshop Series for Educators and Enthusiasts” presented by the Maumee Valley Historical Society and The Wolcott House Museum Complex from March 1- April 12, 2011. These sessions will allow you to gain knowledge of local history, enhance personal growth and community awareness by learning about the important role Ohioans and the Maumee Valley played throughout the Civil War. Topics will enlighten participants on material included in Ohio Academic Content Standards and earn LPDC contact hour certificates (12 contact hours total – two per session).

Details: Teachers, School Administrators and General Public – $6 per session, which includes contact hours for teachers, materials, and light refreshments. MVHS members – $5 per session, which includes light refreshments. MVHS Volunteers are FREE.   Registration is necessary.
