Join the Hale Farm & Village for a journey on the Underground Railroad. Play the role of fugitive slaves struggling to reach freedom in the North. Explore the social, political, and economic impact of the institution of slavery on Northeast Ohio. Escaping from the grasp of an overseer after a slave auction, participants encounter runaways, abolitionists, Quakers and bounty hunters. Experience the emotional and vivid recreation of the trials of the Underground Railroad and the sectional issues that led to the Civil War. This program is an outdoor/indoor activity and participants are asked to dress for the weather. Reservations are required and there is a fee.
