Cleveland: Conference “Ohio Goes to War: The Sectional Crisis and the Fight for Freedom”

Commemorating the sesquicentennial of the American Civil War, Cleveland State University will host a conference on the Civil War era in the Greater Ohio Valley. The conference will feature panels and papers emphasizing social, cultural, military, and political examinations of the age of sectionalism are particularly welcome as are those dealing with such issues as Ohio’s abolition movement, the Underground Railroad, the Secession Crisis, military mobilization, and the home front.
Select papers will also be published in a collection from Kent State University Press, which publishes the foremost scholarly journal of the war-Civil War History Journal and the book series, the Civil War in the North.
Sponsor: The conference is jointly sponsored by Kent State University Press and the history departments at the University of Akron, Cleveland State University, Kent State University, and Youngstown State University.
