We are seeking re-enactors to help celebrate our marker dedication for Union Square, a 2 acre grassy block in our community that is today a park with mature trees. This park was once the site of the canteen for nearby Camp Jefferson in Bellaire, where troops were moved from this location by both rail (Central Ohio to Baltimore and Ohio) and river. This Union Square fed the 16th Ohio which was then sent off into Virginia to re-take possession of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad which was under siege from the south.

Union Square is the site of the Civil War Monument erected in Bellaire in 1886. The OHS Marker dedication of Union Square will be in the vicinity of this existing monument.

The marker dedication will be part of the All-American Days Festival and there will be food, fun and entertainment throughout the day, capped off with a live performance by the Vogues Saturday evening.

We need to secure services of re-enactors to further plan our event. I am submitting photos to show you the park in question, which is suitable for camping, drilling, marching and battle re-enactments. Please let me know if you have an interest in participating.

We portray the Fifth Independent Battery of Ohio Volunteer Artillery that was an actual artillery unit raised out of the Cincinnati and southern Ohio area. We are a not for profit organization that depends on donations for performing school programs, memorial services, Civil War Living History programs and Civil War reenactments. We have access to other units that perform infantry, medical, both Union and Confederate. Contact us through the email on our website or through the forum.

We are a troupe of presidential living historians who portray Presidents Lincoln, Garfield, Taft, and T. Roosevelt, and First Ladies Lucretia Garfield & Eleanor Roosevelt. Please visit our website for information about our programs and photos.

The "Garfields" have a perfect program for a Civil War-themed event, called "Letters from the Front." They read excerpts from actual letters exchanged by James & Lucretia from 1861 to 1863. These convey a full range of emotions and show their perspectives from war front and home front. Please contact us if you have questions about our programs.
